Sri Sukhmani Polytechnic (SSP) was  established in Aug 2011 caters to the growing demand for qualified technical personnel in different streams. Since its inception, the Polytechnic has always been at the forefront of  innovation and has attained a leading position in the field of technical and professional education. Sri Sukhmani Polytechnic is one of the most reputed Polytechnics of Punjab imparting technical education upto Diploma in five  branches of Engineering. Established since 2011  in a lush green campus, the College offers a very conducive environment for learning and overall growth.

We aim to provide students with industry or job related engineering knowledge, scientific skills, sound knowledge of English to communicate in the field and ability to apply problem solving techniques.

FOR FIRST SEMESTER (1st YEAR)

10TH CLASS with English, Science & Mathematics

FOR THIRD SEMESTER (2nd YEAR) LATERAL ENTRY (LEET)

Relative merit in 10+2 Science examination passed with vocational/ Technical subject in various branches

OR

Pass in Two Year ITI Course in appropriate specialization after matriculation, upto maximum of 20% of sanctioned intake.

In case the seats remaining unfilled on the basis of criteria mentioned above, shall be made on the basis of  merit of any of the following examinations:

  • One year of completion of ITI after 10th Class
  • 10+2 vocational (any subject)
  • 10+2 with Science
  • Two years certificate course from SLIET Longowal and having Punjab Domicile.
  • Two Year certificate course in Skilled Technician (Mechanist) Skilled Technician (Machine Maintenance) & Quality Insurance Inspector from R&D Centre for Bicycle and sewing Machine Ludhiana
  • Students, who have appeared in matriculation examination or who have already passed the matriculation examination or Joint Entrance Test, can apply for the courses. However, the candidates who have appeared in the matriculation examination will be eligible for admission only if they are able to pass the matriculation or equivalent examination from the recognized board.
  • Admission to the Sri Sukhmani Polytechnic is made on the basis of merit in JET/Matriculation. The students must submit their complete application form to the institute after the allotment of the college during counseling by PSBTE. The admission and hostel forms are available in the college prospectus.
  • Two-third of the seats in all courses at the institution will be filled by PSBE&IT, through counseling the remaining one-third of the seats will be admitted under the Management Quota.
  • The seats under the management quota will be filled in the order of preference after publishing a 15 day’s prior admission notice through the newspapers for the LEET students seeking admissions. ITI from an appropriate institute or 10+2 (Vocational/Science) from a recognized Board/University is required.

Fee Structure

As per norms of Punjab State Board of Technical Education, the Fee structure is subject to the revision/rationalization/finalization by the State Govt. from time to time and the same shall be applicable , when amended/communication by the State Govt. In addition, the student shall be required to pay the Board fee/charges as prescribed by PSBTE . Students, who desire to leave the college at anytime during the session, will have to deposit balance fee & get no dues certificate. The fees of the Management Quota will be same as the fee notified by the Punjab Govt., until it is revised in accordance with legal procedure. There will be not direct or indirect capitation fees.

Reservation

The reservation policy of the state government will apply to the State Quota only. There will be no reservation in respect of the management Quota.

General Rules for All Students

  1. The Candidate selected provisionally for admission must deposit the fees and original certificates at the time of admission failing which he/she will forfeit the claim for admission and placement in the waiting list and no correspondence will be entertained in this regard.
  2. The candidate admitted will be required to attend the classes immediately. Every student is required to complete minimum attendance requirement as laid down by PSBTE.
  3. All admissions are provisional and subjected to the final approval of the PSBTE after completing the necessary requirement as per rules/ordinances.
  4. Any candidate found medically unfit will not be allowed to continue his/her study in institution.

COMPUTER SCIENCE & ENGINEERING:

The course imparts scientific, practical and technical knowledge to its learners about various computer tools that are used in day to day life. Computer Science & Engineering is a discipline that integrates several fields of Electronics engineering and Computer Science required developing computer hardware and software. Computer Science & Engineering deals with design, implementation, and management of information system of both software & hardware processes.

Careers :

Rapidly advancing IT sector in India has plenty of jobs for fresh Computer Engineering Diploma holders. Besides, the Computer Engineers have plenty of options to work in IT companies in departments such as design, development, assembly, manufacture and maintenance, etc. Working as a programmer, web developer, and E- commerce specialist with telecommunications companies, automotive companies, aerospace companies, etc. can be a lucrative career option as well.

MECHANICAL ENGINEERING:

Mechanical Engineering is one of the oldest branches of Engineering. Mechanical Engineering is the branch of Engineering that deals with design, manufacturing and operation of machinery. Mechanical engineering is the discipline that applies the principles of engineering, physics, and materials science for the design, analysis, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems. The Mechanical Engineering department at CPC is well equipped with latest state of the art labs and manned by highly qualified & experienced Faculty members.

Mechanical engineers play a vital role in varied industries such as Automotive, Manufacturing, Automation, Aerospace, Biotechnology, Computers and Electronics, Chemical, Construction, Energy Conversion and more. A Mechanical Engineering Diploma holder can work in both private and public companies.

ELECTRONICS & COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING:

This field focuses on concepts of electronics engineering, electronic devices and relevant software. We provide premier professional education with an eye on the latest developments in the technology.

Careers:

Electronics and Communication Engineers are acquired by both private and government bodies. One can choose to work in consumer electronics, aviation and avionics, computer applications, radio and television, telecommunications, manufacturing and offshore industries.

CIVIL ENGINEERING:

Civil Engineering is an engineering discipline that focuses on design, planning, construction and maintenance of physically built as well as natural environment. The course curriculum is comprehensive and designed properly to provide a sound background to the students in all the areas related to civil engineering field through practical training camps, site visits, theory classes, project works and lab practical.

With the boom in construction and the numerous building projects being taken by Indian and multinational companies in the country , the job prospects for civil engineers have grown tremendously in the last quarter of decade. Civil Engineering is considered to be the “mother of all disciplines”. Job of a civil engineer is to co-ordinate a construction project and to integrate activities not only in the areas of design, planning and execution but other important fields like survey, soil testing, quality control, engineering safety, project planning, construction and maintenance of highways, bridges and dam construction etc. The job also involves a considerable amount of field research and supervision often outdoors under all kinds of weather conditions.

ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING:

Electrical engineering is an engineering discipline that deals with electricity. This discipline covers topics like generation and transmission of electricity, electrical systems and devices. Electrical Engineering is a field of Engineering that generally deals with the study and application of electricity, electronics, and electromagnetism. Electrical engineering is concerned with the basic forms of energy that run our world, whether it’s gas, hydro, turbine, fuel cell, solar, geothermal, or wind energy.

The Department aims at providing a strong base knowledge and training in the well equipped laboratories, thereby setting grounds for them to be placed in any organization of repute as an Electrical Engineer

FACILITIES

Library facility

A library is temple of learning, a light house and a chief agency in the spread of light. The polytechnic library has an open access library system –an unusual feature compared to closed shelf library system prevalent in other Polytechnics in the Northern Region. The library is being managed efficiently, though with staff consisting of one Assistant Librarian and attendant. It is providing good service to staff and students alike as also facilities of Student Aid Books to large number of students. The current stock level of books in the library is 1977 titles containing 8625 volumes. It has been up-date with latest edition of books, technical & non technical magazines, journals related with all branches. A great number of students visit the college library daily to gain expertise in their respective fields.

National Digital Library Registration

Sri Sukhmani Polytechnic have registered all the staff & students  on NDLI portal to avail the benefits of large number of books & Video lectures. More students have been asked to get the benefits of NDLI.

Sports Facilities

The on-campus facilities for indoor & outdoor sports include Badminton, Cricket, volleyball, Gymnasium  and a number of other activities. The Institute supports the Students Sport Club and is achieving considerable success in the expansion of intramural and recreation programs.

The Institute is able to offer advice on personal fitness programs  and conducts a series of regular fitness assessments programs. After screening the cream of talents, Sri Sukhmani Polytechnic organizes competitions with other Institutes from time to time to realize the potential from in house competition. This spreads a feeling of unity through sports amongst the Sri Sukhmani Polytechnic fraternity.

Scholarship and Awards:       

1) SCHEME OF POST MATRIC SCHOLARSHIPS FOR SCHEDULED CASTES- PMSS- (SC)

Object :  The objective of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to the Scheduled Caste students studying at post matriculation or post-secondary stage to enable them to complete their education. Conditions & Eligibility i. Scholarships will be paid to the students whose parents/guardians’  income from all sources does not exceed Rs. 2,50,000/- (Rupees two lakh, fifty thousands only) per annum.

2) SCHEME OF POST-MATRIC SCHOLARSHIPS TO THE OTHER BACKWARD CLASSES- PMSS- (OBC)

Object : The objective of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to the OBC students studying at post-matriculation or post-secondary stage to enable them to complete their education.

Conditions & Eligibility i. Employed students whose income combined with the income of their parents/guardians does not exceed Rs. 1.00 lakh per annum shall be eligible for post-matric scholarships to the extent of reimbursement of all compulsorily payable non-refundable fees. In case of unemployed students whose parents/guardians income from all sources does not exceed Rs. 1.00 lakh per annum will be entitled for the scholarship under the Scheme.

The scholarships are open to nationals of India.

1)   Only those candidates who belong to Scheduled Castes/OBC so specified in relation to the State/Union Territory to which the applicant actually belongs i.e. permanently settled and who have passed the Matriculation or Higher Secondary or any higher examination of a recognised University or Board of Secondary Education, will be eligible.

However, in cases where Xth class examination of such courses is treated as equivalent to Matriculation and students who after passing Xth class join other courses, such students will be treated as post-matric students and will be eligible for the award of scholarships.

2)  Employed students whose income combined with the income of their parents/guardians does not exceed the maximum prescribed income ceiling are made eligible to postmatric scholarships to the extent of reimbursement of all compulsorily payable nonrefundable fees.

3)  All children of the same parents/guardians will be entitled to receive benefits of the scheme.

4) A scholarship holder under this scheme will not hold any other scholarship/stipend. If awarded any other scholarship/stipend, the student can exercise his/her option for either of the two scholarships/stipends, whichever is more beneficial to him/her and should inform the awarding authority through the Head of the Institution about the option made. No scholarship will be paid to the students under this scheme from the date he/she accepts another scholarship/stipend. The student can however, accept free lodging or a grant or adhoc monetary help from the State Government or any other source for the purchase of books, equipment or for meeting the expenses on board and lodging in addition to the scholarship amount paid under this scheme.

5) The value of scholarship includes the following for complete duration of the course:- i. Maintenance allowance, ii. Reimbursement of compulsory non-refundable fees, iii. Study tour charges, iv. Thesis typing/printing charges for Research Scholars, v. Book allowance for students pursuing correspondence courses, vi. Book bank facility for specified courses, and

6)  All the eligible students have to apply for the scholarship at the time of seeking admission on the prescribed format available with the Admin Office.

7)  Original document for claiming the aforesaid scholarship are to be submitted to the Admin Office before last date.

Maintenance of records

After verifying the claim, Admin Office shall send Branch wise list of students under each category to Accounts Section with a copy to the concerned Department for compliance. The students are required to submit extra copies of  Xerox  records of scholarship form duly filled and attested along with attached certificates and documents.

Grievance Redressal Commitee

TRAINING & PLACEMENT

Placements

Placement is the pillar of any institute. Training & Placement cell of SSP DeraBassi plays a vital role in shaping the course of the students from their induction, orientation, summer and winter internships and right upto their final placement, and even beyond .T&P cell organizes campus Placments, Off Campus Placement and job fairs by inviting the prominent and upcoming industries. Well trained Team of Training & Placement cell of SSP Dera Bassi is there for good placements of students among technical giants of reputed companies. We have a full fledged Training & Placement cell which plays an important role in counseling the students regarding their career and placements. On an average 70 – 80% of our eligible students got placements in the past three years. 
We have the entire infrastructure required for campus recruitments and other T & P activities like : Conference Hall, Overhead Projectors, PA system, Online Test Facility, Video Conferencing etc. We have assigned one staff member from each department/trade as representative of TP cell to assist the students and recruiters during campus placements and other activities organized by training and placement cell.

Reforms on the Examination Procedures and Processes

  • Sri Sukhmani Polytechnic is affiliated to PSBTE & IT , Chandigarh  respectively & hence follows the guidelines of said board & AICTE respectively  . The Institute follows semester system for Diploma programs and the performance of a student in each semester shall be evaluated subject wise with a maximum of 75 marks for theory and 25 marks & 50 marks  for the practical subjects. In addition to the theory and practical subjects, an industry oriented mini – project,  internal sessional , comprehensive viva-voce and project work will have a weightage of marks specified by PSBTE & IT
  • The evaluation of theory and practical subjects is based on continuous internal and semester end external examinations. The institute will modify the Academic/Examination regulations from time to time for enhancing the quality of education as per the direction of PSBTE & IT.
  • A candidate shall be deemed to have secured the minimum academic requirement in a subject if he/she secures a minimum of 35% of marks in the end semester examination and a minimum aggregate of 40% of the total for the Diploma Program .
    • The mid semester/semester end examination notification along with the time table will be issued and uploaded on the Institute website by following the schedule of the academic calendar of PSBTE & IT. Day wise / room wise/ year of study wise seating arrangement is prepared for all the subjects. Required number of faculty for invigilation is drawn from the
    • The pre-examination works like preparation of final data base of the candidates who are eligible to appear for the semester end exams, sending the data for preparation of preprinted barcoded answer booklets, preparation of nominal rolls, Hall tickets, room wise seating plans and invigilation duties and D-forms during the examination time are taken care with the help of the examination management system software of PSBTE & IT .
    • The end semester answer scripts are evaluated in a spot valuation camp organized in a reputed institute marked by  the approval of the Chief Controller of Examinations PSBTE & IT.
    • The mid semester marks and the end semester marks are integrated for the final results processing and also for the printing of grade sheets by the PSBTE & IT respectively.
  • The Challenge evaluation system and showing the evaluated answer script to the student are the measures taken as a part of the transparency in the evaluation

Processes Integrating IT

  • Examination Management System (EMS) services are available at PSBTE & IT website to integrate all the activities in the examination branch. The internal continuous assessment marks are also uploaded in the data base of EMS of PSBTE & IT and will be integrated with end semester marks at the time of results
  • Payment gateway is also available for the payment of various fees online by the students to make the registrations online for various
  • The EMS is enabling the student to download the hall tickets and results online .
  • Complete automation of examination process helps in the successful execution of examination processes such as monitoring of examination fee payment, examination schedule, seating arrangement, attendance monitoring, coding and decoding of scripts, marks data entry, preparation of programme wise results.

Freshers Induction Program:-

A  new faculty member who completes his / her studies in a timely manner from any technical institution and joins in SRI SUKHMANI POLYTECHNIC COLLEGE needs basic training, he / she is required to provide quality outputs in the short run so that they lead to meaningful outcomes for the discipline in the medium duration which in turn a valuable impact for the institutions in the long duration.  Therefore the faculty member is required to plan the efforts and their directions to make the academic carrier meaningful. NITTTR, Chandigarh had been providing the assistance  to  our staff to enhance the skills in different technologies in the past.

Faculty induction programme (FIP) has to be implemented  in SRI SUKHMANI POLYTECHNIC COLLEGE , just after recruitment of fresh teachers.

  • He/ She  has to keep abreast with the latest DOTE syllabus in his subject.
  • New faculty members are trained to develop the art of preparing a systematic lesson plan and effective classroom interaction developing competence in communication skill in various models relevant to technical problems.
